Message that my AT&T internet wireless network is no longer secure

I have been getting messages in my Dell laptop that my AT&T internet wireless network that I have used for many years is no longer secure and is being phased out.  Shouldn't AT&T notify me and update me on that?  What other secure network should I use?

@wonufo , I know you pay them a monthly fee, but:

On your bill in the breakdown of charges, do you only have one fee for Internet service, or do you have separate fees for Internet Service vs Internet Gateway (also could be Wireless Gateway, Residential Gateway, Wireless Equipment Fee)?

Also, what is the line item called on your bill for Internet service?

Inside wire protection (appears on phone bill-landline) $0

Internet basic 6-$50

Total $50

I guess the router was a one-time payment to get started. It was a long time ago, I don't remember.

Okay, so it looks like you have classic or legacy DSL.  You basically either purchased the Gateway or somehow AT&T "gave it to you", because legacy DSL uses customer-owned equipment.  That means your choices are to find and purchase a compatible replacement or to purchase a router or access point to it to provide secure Wi-Fi and connect it to this Gateway and turn its Wi-Fi off.

The more I look the more it seems that I may have jumped the gun.  Again.  The  2701HGV-B is capable of ADSL2+ and providing voice service (apparently that's what the "V" indicates).  Is your telephone connected to the back of the 2701HGV-B (directly or indirectly)?

How is your voice service described on the bill?  "AT&T Phone" or something else?

I still think you're in a situation where AT&T included/sold you the Gateway, which is why you're not paying for it monthly... but now I think you can't go out and buy a replacement.   Let me know the answers to the questions above.
