Keeping a Bellsouth.net email address when switching from ATT to another ISP.

Six years ago, it seems that ATT was saying that the answer was yes, you would still have access to your bellsouth.net email account if your account with ATT was in good standing when you left the service.  Is this still the case in 2023?

I’ve held onto my ATT account waiting for fiber to come to my area, and it’s been over two years.  Their fastest DSL has been insufficient for the things I need like taking online classes, and now that I know that ATT has no plans to bring fiber to my area, it’s time to move on,  but there are so many subscriptions and billing that go to my old bellsouth.net email, it would be a pain to figure out what they all are, let alone move them to another email, and I’d rather not if I don’t have to.

Hey @jsmith0552, you've come to the right place for information on your email account!

To summarize the answer, yes your email account will remain active after you cancel your services. If you cancel your AT&T Internet account, you will still have access to your account as long as your account is in good standing. If there is a balance owed on the AT&T internet account, you will lose access to the email until it is resolved. You can find more information about keeping your account open after cancelling your service in this article
