Incorrect AT&T IP Address Location
I have spent 5 hours on the phone and on chat with 8 different AT&T customer service reps. My IP address location is 200 miles from where I actually live. I have a cable streaming app (Sling) on my Roku that choses my local channels based on my IP adress location. Since the IP address location is incorrect, I cannot have local channels. AT&T absolutely refuses to fix this. Is anyone else having this problem?

Good afternoon @SickOfThis17!
I am sorry to hear you have spent so much time trying to solve this issue. While I understand the importance of having the accurate information, keep in mind the IP Address is associated with your account and it never changes. Please click here for more details.
So we can personally work with you in finding solutions, please reply to my private message found in your Forum's Inbox with the information requested.
Thank you for posting and have a great day!

I am having the same issue! For the past 3 days I’ve been on the phone a total of 8 hours trying to fix the fact that I’m getting local news from New York City when I live in Pittsburgh!!!! Why isn’t anyone able to fix this?!?!?!

Do you mean Sling "fixed" your location by letting them (or you through some info you set on their site) specify a location independent of your public IP address? I assume that if you put your public IP (the one the gateway broadcasts) into a site that looks up IP location (this for example) it will still say it's the same "wrong" location you originally had.

Your IP address location isn't based on where you live, it's based on where the host server is located. In my case 400 miles away. If you're getting information based on your IP address and that local information was changed on your account than it was just manually change and is no longer based on your IP address. No different that a satellite TV service saying your local service is from X location and you get them to change it to Y location.
EDIT: Nice resource @_xyzzy_ I think I'll keep that one. I usually use Whois or google my IP.

Yes, but that has nothing to do with your IP address, it has to do with your GPS coordinates, so they changed your locals based on that rather than your IP address, could have done the same thing with a zip code. No Internet provider has host servers in each location they serve. Main thing is you got it fixed to suit your needs, but it was nothing the AT&T or any other providers reps could have fixed.

Ok, so where do I start over at? Do I request a new modem? Do I need to speak with Direct TV Now? I have two Rokus also. I’m just really confused and very upset over this whole situation. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You do as @SickOfThis17 had to do. You contact whoever is providing your local channels via the Internet and see if they will change your locals and base them on your physical location (zip code) or as in @SickOfThis17 case the GPS coordinates (same either way) and not your IP address . Not all will and probably most won't. This has nothing to do with your modem or your Internet service provider, as has been stated a few different ways, not sure how to make it clearer.
