Father passed away - unable to get help from AT&T over the phone

My father passed away and I am trying to cancel his DSL service. I have called every number on his monthly AT&T statement and no one seems to be able to help me. Have been on hold for over 2 hours and transferred to 5 different departments.  Don't know what to do as AT&T telling me the account number on the statement they send monthly is not valid. Its a very difficult time as you can imagine and so frustrated as I cannot get AT&T to help me.

Hi there, lgreever! Our heartful condolences goes out to you and your family during this trying time. We will be able to help you.

We have found a wonderful forums article that should point you in the right direction to get this account closed. Please refer to: Death In The Family - How To Cancel An Account. Since you have not gotten this resolved over the phone, skip the "Contact Us" portion and and gather the information in the "Come See Us" portion.

Located right below that, is a link for the AT&T Store Locator. Use that link to help you find the nearest local AT&T Corporate Store and they will take care of the rest.

One side note and this not mentioned in the article, if you could bring a copy of the latest bill with you, so we can locate the account.

If there is any thing else that we can do for you, please let us know.

Thank you so much for using the AT&T Community Forums.
