DSL Service Transfer & Email Address

Short Story - Can the Member ID associated with a DSL Account be changed when the DSL Account is transferred to a new home owner ??

Background - In 2008, AT&T ran a landline and DSL to my newly built rural home. I've used that AT&T email address and a secondary AT&T email address for EVERYTHING for the past 12 years. In 2020, I sold the house. The Buyer was told that AT&T would not provide them with DSL Service to the home (UVerse was not available) unless we "transferred" the account. It took about 3 hours worth of phone calls and being on hold, but AT&T finally transferred the account to Buyer. At no time did anyone tell me the landline & DSL transfer would impact my email account. AT&T walked the Buyer through installing their new modem and gave them my AT&T Email address as the "MEMBER ID" and reset my Email Password locking me out of my own account! I was able to go in and do a password reset, but I'm very concerned the BUYER now has access to my email account. I need to separate the EMail address from the DSL Account. I was on hold for 2 hours today and one AT&T rep told me the only way to sever my email addrss was to Cancel the DSL Account. I'm not sure I even can do that anymore since I transferred the account to the buyer.

Hey @Kelraven,

We understand that your having an problem related to your DSL account. Don't worry, we can point you in the right direction.

In this case with this being a DSL account you would need to call 800-288-2020 to get assistance. Let us know if that helps.
