CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003] message

I have had a problem with my email since changing my password on May 25, 2020, I have to log in with user name and password every time I want to view my account. i have checked stay logged in for 2 weeks. Now today, I was locked out for too many attempts to log in. I was on the phone with AT&T for 30 minutes and was told my account was unlocked and I should wait an hour and try again. I waited for an hour and half and I'm still getting the message. Any help??

Just talked to AT&T Again, they basically said there was nothing I can do and I have to wait 24 hours from the last failed attempt for it to unlock itself. Grrrr.

I'm having the same issue and error code. Just started this weekend for absolutely no reason. This is something ATT has done!!

I opened a ticket where they couldn't find an issue and eventually got a generic email saying 'we couldn't find any issue', and they basically closed out the ticket. Yet I still can't get in through a browser.

I am following this as well...I have been unable to access email on a desktop but I can access through my iOS device. Does this have anything to do with 'sbdglobal.net' email addresses??? I heard that there may be something going on with email addresses ending in sbcglobal.net.

Can't access on Chrome, Safari or Edge. So it's not my user ID or password, but the error message always says "There have been too many failed sign in attempts. To get help, please visit att.com/myatt and use Forgot user ID or Forgot password links.

I have the same problem. I have waited over 24 hours and still cannot get into my account. My email account works fine on my iPhone but when I try it on my deskup Windows 8.1 computer I cannot get logged in. My Yahoo.com account works fine but my ATT.net account does not. Also. I can signin to the Yahoo.com com site (not the email) but I cannot signin to the currently.att.yahoo site. I believe this is the problem, not the email although with not being able to signin to currently.att.yahoo it is not possible to signin to the email on my desktop. What gives AT&T? How can this be fixed? Major problem.

Hi @Sheman, we are happy to help.

Learn about secure mail keys and why you’ll need one to access your AT&T email from a desktop program or email app without Open Authentication (OAuth).

Please let us know if this helps!

This worked for me so hopefully it will work for you.

Go to “currently.att.yahoo”.

Click on the circle at the upper right hand corner.

This takes you to a screen with several options.

Click on Sign In. This will take you to an Att sign in screen.

Enter your User ID.

If you are absolutely positive of your password, enter it and you should be signed in.

If you are not sure of the password or just want a new one, click on Forgot Password. On the next screen, enter your User ID and then your last name. Then press Continue.

Answer the security questions and press Continue.

Enter a strong password and then confirm it. Press Continue.

On the Password reset success screen press Finish. You should then be signed in.

I've reset my password several times and it appears to go through, yet I still get the password error message "There have been too many failed sign in attempts. To get help, please visit att.com/myatt and use Forgot user ID or Forgot password links. CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]" I truly think there is a network or server issue that is not related to everyone's failed password attempts. Everyone above is seeing the same issue.

Did you clear out your cache etc first?

Use a different browser to try currently.att.yahoo and try the routine again. Sorry it didn’t work for you.

I also get this error message. It's not a password problem. It doesn't matter what browser I use or whether or not the cache has been cleared. Deleted Chrome and Firefox browsers and reinstalled. I can log in on smart phone email app but not through a web browser. Sounds like a problem that has just developed.

@ATTHelp Has AT&T looked into all the similar cases yet and came up with any other solutions? It clearly isn't a password issue. Is it not a browser issue - all browsers are reporting the same problem (Safari, Chrome, IE, ). It appears to be that access still works through a phone but not on a computer / laptop. Please let us know what new steps you are doing to troubleshoot the issue! I found at least 3 other forum posts with the same issue reported.

I agree, I have used multiple browsers, cleared the cache, changed my password multiple times.  NO LUCK!  Thank God I can still access on my phone!  @ATTHelp please advise!

This is absolutely ridiculous!!!  It has been over a month with multiple LENGTHY conversations with online chat to no avail!!  AT&T should be ashamed!!

This is absolutely unacceptable!!  I have not had access to my email from my desktop in over a month!!  Numerous lengthy calls to no avail!!  AT&T you should just admit you don't have a clue how to fix it!!  At least tell us you are attempting to fix this issue or are you simply ignoring our comments????

I too have not had access to my email on a desktop for about 5 weeks now. Multiple browsers, different laptops, clearing cache, changing passwords, nothing helps. Apparently they do not monitor these comments and just tell us to start over contacting customer support. Again. And actually I worked with one over 60 minutes, only to get transferred off and then I got disconnected!

This is ridiculous. I'm having the same problem with my email. Can access via iOS devices, but not from laptop/desktop/chromebook.

In reading all these posts, it seems like AT&T is really dropping the ball on this.
WHAT is the issue ... and, more importantly, WHAT is the FIX??

FIX IT!

I have been working on this for over a week.  So the suggestion to "wait an hour & try again" ... "wait 6 hrs & try again" ... "wait 24 hrs & try again" ........ are clearly not the answer.

When I see how many people are posting to these forums (several similar forums out there), this is undoubtedly an AT&T issue and not something that we all are doing 'wrong'.  If dozens of people are posting about this, you can assume that hundreds are having the issue & not posting.

I don't know if this is any help, but I accidently found a way in after weeks of this issue frustrating me. (I have an sbcglobal email address which was giving the error 205.2 for AT&T and HBO/DirectTV.)

I just went and created a new @att.net email account which led me to a phone number verification which led to the single user ID that I had set up last year during the "Yahoo mail is going away" email blitz. The system allowed me to either use my new att.net account or the existing single sign in ID that I had created (and forgot about) last year. Now I can sign in to everything with that ID and the password I have reset. It is just a username, not an email address that I sign in with now.

I hope that leads at least someone to a ray of light in the darkness. Good luck!

I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried multiple browsers and still get the error.   If you look at the URL it says that the account is "HARD LOCKED".  I am not sure what that means, but this is definitely an AT&T issue.  I am using a SBCGLOBAL address.  (It is not listed at the sub accounts screen https://www.att.com/olam/manageSubViewTab.myworld?actionEvent=redirectToManageSub )

There have been too many failed sign in attempts. To get help, please visit att.com/myatt and use Forgot user ID or Forgot password links.

I have started experiencing this exact same problem for the past 3 days. I have tried clearing my cookies and recent history, changing web browsers, changing computers, etc. Nothing works.

I spent 3 hours on the phone with ATT about a different issue, and the agent reset my password and gave me a temporary password which worked but would not let me into my account to change to a permanent password or to set up backup security contact information.

I was relieved that I can at least access my email through my iphone, but I need to be able to access my email from my computer.

I have a bellsouth.net email and AT&T continues to want my phone number or account number, neither of which I have because I don't have an account with them.  I have been unable to get into my email account for at least a month.  When I try to hit the Forgotten Password link it just buffers non-stop until it finally times out.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
