ATT Reward card stolen and activated by someone else
Hi,
ATT Reward team has mailed me a reward card on 23rd Dec by USPS First class mail. But the post was never delivered to my address. When I called back ATT reward center, to my surprise they told me that the card was already activated and it is currently having zero balance. They told ATT is not responsible for lost or stolen card. I have asked them to give me the USPS tracking id or any other details for finding the post but they haven't provided any of the details and asked me to log a complaint to local police. But I need some proof from ATT that this card was mailed to me they are not sharing the same and they are not ready to compensate for lost/stolen reward card.
Can someone please guide me with what should be my next steps to complaint and claim the reward card.

We can point you in the right direction to get help with your reward card, Dhinesh.
Have you called this number: 877-258-1427? This is the number for a higher tier of support for the Reward Center, and they may be able to provide the tracking information for the card. As they stated, AT&T is not responsible for lost or stolen cards, but they may be able to issue a new card for you.
Give them a call and let us know how it went.

Hi Aminah, @ATTHelp
Thank you so much for your response and guidance. Really appreciate it.
I have already called (877)258-1427 but they have mentioned they will not be able to do anything in this case because they said the card was stolen and activated and it is currently with zero balance. Please let me know if any other number to reach to get replacement Reward card for such cases.

I called and all I got was they are not responsible for lost and stolen cards, even though I physically have it. You get people to switch with the great offer of a the rewards but then we don't get it. It seems you have a real issue of info/cards getting stolen and not doing anything about it.

My card was also drained of funds the day after I activated it. In reading this site I see this is a common problem. I am filing complaints with both federal and state consumer protection bureaus as all these complaints do indicate a data breach of some kind. This is clearly someone with inside information.

Same issue just happened to me, going to try calling AT&T again and also BanCorp bank that issues these cards. Apparently all you need to activate it is the postal code which is obviously on the mail itself. I would imagine that AT&T should work with the card issuer to request the AT&T account number and other details.

@KhalidH Agree! Just face the same issue here. I was so surprised that the card could be activated easily by calling in and providing the address in the mail. I'm waiting for the transaction log of the cards to report to the police.

Same thing happened to me too! I called the customer service and they are telling me the same exact things written above by others. I'm shocked at how often this happens; it's making me think that AT&T is doing this on purpose. I was a T-mobile user for 20+ years and ended up switching to AT&T with this offer and this is the customer service I get??? Incredible.

Recently switched over to At&T from Cox cable, due to a rewards incentive program, so I decided why not give them a shot and get a couple of bucks. The At&t service representative said that I would receive a $200 rewards card for switching to their service, so I went forward with the new service. A day later I get an email about the rewards card, buy it was for $150. Ok, not the amount promised, but it's still $150. A month after I check for the rewards card on my email and find the link to claim the money, yes! I click the link to access the card information, and it says that the card had already been activated and there was no money on the card. I called the At&t rewards center, and they told me that they are sorry that my card was stolen and to call the cops. I have a camera system and it records everyone who approaches my front door. No one stole any mail, packages, or anything else. I ask the representative what information someone needed if they in fact took the card out of my mailbox, which they didn't, and she said that they needed the account zip code. I told her that if they mailed it then the zip code is on the letter. What kind of protection is that if someone got ahold of it? She had no answer, and told me that I should file a police report. I asked her for proof that the card was mailed and actually made it to my address and she said that their bank does the mailing so she didn't have any information, nor could she give me the information of the bank which distributed the cards. She then stated that the website says that at&t are not responsible for lost or stolen cards. I asked to speak to her supervisor, who told me the same thing and was unable to give me proof that the card was sent to my address. The supervisor then transfered me to her boss, who conveniently had "phone issues" and the call mysteriously disconnected. I researched the internet and found out that this has happened to many people, and there was a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) for similar issues, yet at&t has still not changed it's card distribution policy to protect the rewards cards beneficiaries. At&t needs to investigate who is taking these cards from either their location or via the distribution center. So now I lost the $150 promised, which isn't going to break my bank, but I definitely won't be doing business with them anymore. So anyone who is promised a cash rewards card, I wouldn't count on it. Do a quick Google search.

Same thing happened to me. I called and they said they are going to re issue my card but it will take up to 2 weeks. I really think at&t needs to make some new security changes . I can't believe its so easily for someone to steal my reward. My 250 dollar reward was left with 50$ on it . (Edited per community guidelines) crackhead probably stole it.
