Upgraded speed, sending me new modem?

Currently have a one month old Bgw320-500 and upgraded from 300mbps to 500mbps speed and shows they are shipping me a new modem for self install- why cant this be done remotely and why do I have to deal with exchanging brand new equipment?

Because the AT&T system is brain dead.  This started happening a few months ago and even though we've tried to push it up the management chain it's clear that nobody has done anything to fix it.  All that needed to happen for your upgrade was a profile change at their end and maybe a reboot of your existing gateway.
