Request for fiber internet expansion to neighborhood

How can I be more proactive in encouraging fiber internet expansion to my neighborhood?

Nothing you can do. Att puts fiber where they want with no apparent reason or pattern.

From planning to order activation can be 18 to 24 months.
Expect anybody that will receive service by start of 2025 is already started.

At previous 3 million per year passed deployment would be 250,000 per month or 10,000 each day Monday to Saturday being turned life for ordering within 100+ markets in selected areas of 21 states.

It's frustrating how AT&T isn't doing much to update everyone from broadband to fiber, despite competitors like Comcast coming in to try and beat them to it. It's also not helpful when people in the forums here act more as apologists for the lack of initiative from AT&T rather than trying to help raise awareness for these issues.

More people are working from home as well, and broadband won't cut it anymore. AT&T needs to just get to it!

We understand fast internet is a must, @J_East

Here are some reasons why fiber may not be available in your area:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

If you believe it should be available in your area, but it doesn't show up when you try to order service, you can fill out an address research request. Just fill out the form, and we'll look into it and get back to you!

Finally, we recommend signing up for fiber notifications. When fiber is available in your area, we'll let you know!

I would be more forgiving if it wasn't for the fact that AT&T had every chance to install fiber in my area and didn't.

You can get caught up to seep with my current situation with this post.

I live right across the street from a business district, and sandwiched between other residential areas. Fiber is offered north, south, east, and west of me, but not in my area despite the fact that Comcast rolled through the other year and set up shop. No one in my neighborhood wants Comcast, but they're the ones being proactive about installing in this area.

It's been over four years with no updates, so do more than just toss us the same tired "signing up for fiber notifications" excuse.
