Ordering AT&T fiber prior to move in

Have you checked online to see if fiber service is available at the apartment?

If yes, can you place order online?

If someone is already there with ATT service you should not be able to order till they cancel their service or transfer their service to a different address.

Self Installation kit are only available at locations that already have the service. If the apartment is not yet wired or active will require a full tech installation after moving in.

 I want to order AT&T Fiber service online and use the self-installation method. Am I able to order it ahead of time and ship it to my current address before moving into the new apartment? 

Yes an AT&T CSR  may let you order service (self-install) but the equipment will be shipped to the new address no matter what the CSR tells you about using your existing address to receive any new equipment for the new address.

Regardless what you might be told about having the hardware sent to your current address it will not happen.

Even if you actually qualify for a self-install it often fails as the previous tenet or cleanup crew remove the installed ONT from your new place or just cut the fiber / Ethernet cables in the Network panel  and you will end up with a failed self-install.

You would then need a tech to correct the failed self-install. You best bet would be to take control of the property a few days before your actual move and arrange to check what is already setup in your new unit.

Note: as @my thoughts indicated self-install only works if everything is already in place at your new address and the previous tenet has cancelled service and is not in the middle of moving service.

You may also have to wait up to 28 days before their Fiber service clears before you can actually setup your new Fiber connection

Yes, fiber service is available at the new apartment and I have confirmed I can place the order online.

It is possible to ship the installation kit to my current address ahead of time and then install once I move (in about 3 weeks)?

Probably best to just get the full tech install. That way if there are any problems, the tech can fix while there. Missing ONT, Ethernet cables not terminated, etc.
