New Customer Questions for AT&T Fiber

Hi,

I apologize if these questions have all been answered before.  I am a potential customer for AT&T Fiber (internet only) and work out of a home office, so the reliability of my internet connection is important.  A few questions:

1) Will AT&T's customer premise equipment reliably work in pass-through mode?  I would like to use my own router and switch equipment, probably a Cisco 890 ISR and will probably load balance/failover with/to another ISP.  Are there roadblocks to doing this with AT&T Fiber?

2) Will I be able to have or purchase a static IP address?

3) How reliable is the service.  Will I be fighting with outages every day? 🙂

4) If the service is unreliable do I have 30 days after installation to cancel?

5) Is this forum the best way to get technical issues with the service resolved?

Thanks

I switched to ATT and the door-to-door salesperson promised the sun moon and stars.

I got the phone hooked up on Friday with the Fiber optic cable and now I can make calls from my land line but can't receive calls. Called Customer Service and they told me it would take 7 days (sat - Friday the 21st to "port" my phone number.  In the meantime, I cannot receive calls.  I work from Home so this is a REAL problem. 7 days to port a phone number is ridiculous.  It takes only a few hours with any other company and often instantly when the order is placed.

We understand how important it is to be able to receive phone calls, Gasman55.

We're sorry that you weren't advised that it could take a week for your number to be ported. Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to expedite that process. If you need help with anything else in the meantime, we'll be happy to assist you.

If you have something else to discuss, please create a new thread. This one is almost six years old and subject to being closed to further posting.
