New Build Internet Availability

We are moving into the last unoccupied new building in our subdivision in a few weeks. There are AT&T pedestals all over the neighborhood and AT&T fiber is available to everyone in the community except our just-built building. I checked using the AT&T internet availability tool. There is an AT&T pedestal on the side of our building. We'd like to sign up for AT&T fiber but we (and the 3 other soon to be residents in our townhouse building) are not showing up in the system. We close on our home in a couple of weeks. What can we do to get into the AT&T availability database so we can order new fiber service?

Getting an incorrect "services unavailable" response at your address?

If you feel you are getting an incorrect “Services unavailable at your address” response, please fill out a quick online form. AT&T will validate your address and get back to you with the results.

Thanks for your response. I did fill out the online form and gave a neighbor's address with AT&T service as requested on the form. I read that it will take a few weeks to get a response from AT&T. Unfortunately, we cannot wait that long as we are moving in very soon. Is there anyway to expedite this? This is a 380 unit subdivision and all of the built homes have AT&T fiber  availability. Except us. Thanks in advance.

We're here to help with your address research request, towtruck55! We hope we will be able to welcome you to the AT&T family soon.

Thank you for filling out the form that Constructive advised, it is the right place to go to report if your address should have AT&T Fiber.

There is currently no way to expedite the process, due to us needing to check multiple registries as well as sending engineers to the location to verify if the address is capable for service.

Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you for being a part of our AT&T Community!

After checking that gig internet is available to my surrounding townhome neighbors on the website, I knocked on the door of one of the residents in the building next door - they have AT&T fiber. I did the same for the buildings on the other side and behind me - they all have AT&T fiber service. I even see an AT&T pedestal on the side of my building (it is new construction & we are moving in in 2 weeks). I've already filled out the address research form as instructed. I think it would be a simple task for AT&T to drive to my neighborhood and see that my building is fiber ready. Waiting is not particularly helpful because we'll be forced to select a different provider very soon unless AT&T confirms the obvious fact that we are fiber ready. Very frustrating!

I forgot to mention that the fiber availability site offers TV service:  "Unlock hundreds of channels and thousands of on-demand movies and shows with DIRECTV STREAM.
DIRECTV STREAM requires high speed internet."

This makes zero sense because we currently have no AT&T internet availability according to the "availability" website but we are being offered AT&T DIRECTTV STREAM services that require internet service. Something is very wrong with this situation!

The TV availability situation is not the reason I am posting here even though getting DIRECT TV service from AT&T and internet from another company is not something I would ever consider. There are several superior and less expensive streaming alternatives.

AT&T Fiber is all over my 380 townhome community. It's on my street and every other street. But not at my new-build building even though there's an AT&T pedestal right there at the building.

Send AT&T to my building and let's get this situation corrected.

getting AT&T TV service from one company and internet from another is not something I would ever consider (and I think most people would agree).

I struck AT&T because AT&T doesn't provide TV service.  DIRECTV provides TV services, different company (partially owned by AT&T).  So, anyone who uses DIRECTV stream service gets their Internet from someone else.  Thus there are millions of DIRECTV stream customers that get Internet from someone other than DIRECTV.  And since fewer than half of the states have AT&T internet service available, yes, there are millions of DIRECTV stream customers who don't get Internet service from AT&T.

The TV service is not the reason I am here - I'm not interested in TV services.

I am here to get AT&T Fiber which is available to every building in my community except my new-build building.

So talking about DirectTV is not helpful. I shouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

@towtruck55 , you might want to have a discussion with your real estate agent who is managing your transaction.  Perhaps if you let them know that you might rethink your purchase unless you can get fiber Internet, they will be able to shake some trees for you.  It wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for your reply. I'll lose at least $25,000 if I back out the deal now - we close in 2 weeks. I've already mentioned it to the realtor who said every resident of the townhome community has AT&T fiber available. And that is true except for my new building (nobody lives there yet). What's frustrating is that there is an AT&T pedestal right there on  the side of our building.

The real estate agent said something that is currently not accurate, which they should be interested in making good.  And there are those 3 other buyers...  I'm not suggesting you actually walk away, I'm just suggesting that you make it worth the while of the real estate agent and/or seller to help you with any local AT&T contacts they may have.

What likely happened is that your building wasn't completed when they turned up the neighborhood.  There may not be fiber actually connected inside the box on the side of your building.
