Internet Service

Hello, interested in starting home office internet service. After speaking with a representative was advised to credit would be pulled. Where does the website specify/guarantee that the pull is a soft inquiry and not a hard inquiry.

Someone from AT&T may drop by and post this (old) link.  It says soft pull but there are a number of posts online from people who claim theirs was a hard pull.

I couldn't find an "official" policy statement any place on att.com.

It's not bad at all. I thought the same thing last year when I signed up.  I believe it's a soft inquiry. Hard inquiries are more for car and home loans. It didn't do anything to my score but maybe a few points lowered. If you want fiber service you'll have to follow through with it.

@tonydi I think if it was a hard pull we'd here a lot more complaints about it. Insurance companies also do a credit pull when someone is looking to sign up, but it's usually soft as well. They basically just pull a score i believe and don't go too deep into details. I just pulled my credit report from the last year and the AT&T inquiry did not show up on it. I just see one inquiry for a hard pull from a lender.

As I said, I found a number of posts claiming that.  No telling if they're true or not. 😁  I just didn't want to say it's definitely a soft pull and then have the OP get surprised.
