Internet down

I called AT&T to report my internet down. They gave me an appointment for over 20 days from now. I have been a customer for over 20 years. Yet they go out quick for a client of mine to set up a new service

20 days sounds wrong. Did you get a text confirming your appointment? If yes, click the link to look for an earlier appointment.

Did you try basic troubleshooting? Unplug the gateway. Wait and plug back in? Run online checks? What color lights on the ONT and gateway? Which model gateway?

Yes I unplugged and waited several times. I went through trouble shooting with tech. The broadband light has no color and the other light (looks like exclamation point with circle) is red.

I did get a confirmation. I will click on it and see if I can get earlier appointment

Thanks for your help

We understand the importance of getting your Internet back up and running sooner rather than later, Vicon425!

In addition to browndk26's suggestion, you can also look for a closer date for your service repair from your myAT&T account. You can find the steps to Manage your install or repair appointment on our website.

If you need help with anything else, let us know! Thanks for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

Since I have no internet I can't manage my account so I called and agent told me if he looks for an earlier appointment I would lose the appointment I have and might be an even later date.

Do you have a cell/smart  phone? With wireless service? You can access the internet using cellular service or free Wi-Fi at many locations. Try an att wireless store. A rep should be able to look for another earlier appointment without cancelling your current appointment.

Hey there @Vicon425, we definitely recommend taking a look at the link Aminah shared to manage your appointment and look for a possible reschedule if one becomes available. Customers cancel and reschedule their appointments all the time so new and earlier times may appear at any time.

We understand however that this may be difficult due to you being without internet service at the moment. So in this case, we would like to invite you to a Direct Message so we can take a look ourselves and see if we can find an earlier time. Please keep an eye out for a notification with our message at the top right-hand corner of the forums.

It is entirely possible that your area may be overbooked at this time, but it would still be our pleasure to take a look and see what can be done. We most definitely can review our current schedules without superseding your current appointment.

In the meantime, we would like to ask that you double-check your area for any ongoing service interruptions. It sounds like the lights you mentioned on your gateway can sometimes be indicative of this. If you receive a notification that you have been affected by such an interruption, rest assured we are already working hard to get your service back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you, and don't forget to look for our DM.
