Do you know that your home is serviced by the proper equipment to give >1Gbps service? Many are not.
Log into your account at att.com and look to see if it shows you are eligible to upgrade your current Internet speed.

As was stated, need the proper equipment available at the PFP, specifically a XGPON that supports the internet 2000 / 5000 speed tiers.
Last known company statement was 40% of current addresses had this capability or about 7 million out of 18 million residential fiber addresses can order internet 2000 ($120/mn) or 5000 ($180/mn).
The expectation moving towards completion of last 12 million fiber addresses to be available by 2026 is more of these will have the multi gig option.
If you have a 020 ONT (black) or the BGW 320 gateway with a RED SFP your on an XGPON splitter.
If your 010 ONT (white) or 240 ONT or BGW 320 with GREEN SFP your GPON splitter with no knowledge if your local PFP has the XGPON splitter unless the database says your eligible for the upgrade which would require a tech installation appointment.
