Fiber Internet

When if at all will ATT Fiber be available in West Nashville? You would think with Vanderbilt University, Belmont, VUMC, Centennial, St. Thomas, TriStar, all the businesses and the amount of people living in this area, there would be Fiber available.

Commercial fiber is one thing.  Residential fiber is a much different thing.  Trying to determine whether or not one is available based upon the other is a fool's errand.

Zip code 37203 has ATT fiber at select addresses with ongoing expansion over next several years.

Would not expect all addresses will receive FTTP but the area also has about 25% Google Fiber.

With currently 30% (18 million) of ATT addresses being FTTP, additional 3 million (5% total footprint) being added each year should result in 50% of hardwired residential addresses within ATT footprint being direct fiber in 2026.

If, When, Who, Where information is not available to general public. Need to wait while considering your other options which can include relocation to where desired service is available.

Just my thoughts…

My other “options” are the same. There isn’t fiber in my neighborhood at all. Again, I’m also surprised with the amount of residents just in this area. Moving? That’s not a solution just to be able to receive a fiber connection.

We understand fast internet is a must, @deleoa3

Here are some reasons why fiber may not be available in your area:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

If you believe it should be available in your area, but it doesn't show up when you try to order service, you can fill out an address research request. Just fill out the form, and we'll look into it and get back to you!

Finally, we recommend signing up for fiber notifications. When fiber is available in your area, we'll let you know!

Those are some blanketed statements about when and where. None of those statements are satisfactory. Too far, not enough, a competitor, and so on. Again, hundreds of people live in my neighborhood. There is no fiber in this neighborhood from any company. There’s even a new apartment building being built a block away. The traffic is super heavy around me. But no worries! I ended up with a t-mobile 5G device and now have faster than 25 Mbs. I’m getting 75% faster and there’s not even a strong signal for that. It’s fine.

also, “just my thoughts”? C’mon you’re an “employee”. You gave an unoriginal statement and instead gave me whatever script you’re allowed to say.

Oh and 37203 when you go to the ATT site says there is NO one in that zip that has it. So, which one is it?

Just because an area has high density doesn’t mean it gets fiber. It’s all about cost to deploy, the number of customers who will upgrade, etc. obviously att and other area ISP’s don’t see a ROI in that area.

are you on other providers forums complaining no service available or is it just assumed at&t is responsible to provide service to these areas?

“Constructive”, why would I assume AT&T is responsible for getting fiber out there or anywhere for that matter? That’s ridiculous. “Complaining” no, I was trying to understand. The responses from alleged employees is what is getting ridiculous. I already accepted there’s nothing that will happen immediately. Read the beginning of this thread again.

There is plenty of fiber in WestbNashville, but not all neighborhoods as previous stated…

https://broadbandnow.com/ATT

using above link click on the map

once active click FIBER button bottom left

zoom into areas interested in.

South of Blakemire is fiber by Vanderbilt and many RED fiber areas in West Nashville

To my knowledge the map is updated twice per year.

What is closest major intersection?

People move all the time for many different reason, including internet along with upsizing, downsizing, schools, employment, etc.
