Fiber installation

Any particular reason why AT&T only opened half our subdivision on fiber ordering? My street and another 3 still aren’t open, which is odd to me. They’re the only ISP here where we live btw. I check availability every day and have the notice for when it’s finally open via text msg.

@EdgarG_

Yes quite frequent when new neighborhoods are still under development or built in sections (or by street). It would appear the earlier phase is completely ready for AT&T Fiber and your section is not yet complete.

Do you see the infrastructure in place on your street for Fiber?

You are looking for the pedestals or underground boxes with Green or Concrete covers along the street(s) near the curb or maybe in the backyard.

Is this new development (greenfield) or brownfield being upgraded?

In brownfield, depending on size of the subdivision, may only be a portion that is upgraded, with remaining staying on existing copper.

For greenfield, may be equipment issues such as no fiber terminals available to complete the deployment. This has been ongoing problem since September 2021 when ATT announced they would be 500,000 short of planned 3 million new fiber locations for 2021 due to shortages. Per 1st quarter report 2022 ATT provided 2.6 million addresses with fiber for 2021 resulting in 400,000 not provided.

@dave006 @There’s everything in place, fiber vaults, PFPs, pedestals. The whole subdivision has been this way since April. No pre existing copper or any other internet provider here.

And how would you check it’s in working order?

@Constructive ironically, I work with an AT&T contractor.
