Fiber Extension Project in my neighborhood
I currently came across workers working on extending fiber 1/2 mile from my home. After discussing with them, it seemed unclear if the extension would reach my home. Is there anyone I can call to find out if I would be covered when the projects finishes. Also, is it possible to get a quote to continue the extension to my home if I won't be covered? From the talking with the workers, it seems they were planning to stop the block across from my home. We are inclined to pay to have the extension continued.

We understand fast internet is a must, @jazzman_68!
Here are some reasons why fiber may not be available in your area:
Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.
If you believe it should be available in your area, but it doesn't show up when you try to order service, you can fill out an address research request. Just fill out the form, and we'll look into it and get back to you!
Finally, we recommend signing up for fiber notifications. When fiber is available in your area, we'll let you know!
If you have any other questions, just let us know! Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums!

No not for residential fiber. It is not designed to be just extended. If it is not part of the original Fiber service area they would have to include you in another Fiber service area. Each Fiber service area has a fixed Fiber Light budget and they can't just keep extending the Fiber lines.
Most Fiber service areas end at a corner / cross street intersection. Again you can't just pay to extend as you would need additional infrastructure that you would need to pay many thousands. It is the same way with Cable providers. (Most Cable plant expansions start at $15,000.00 and go up from there).
I am sure it is not what you want to hear but for now just consider the fastest service available that actually services your address.

Thanks you for your reply. There has been orange tip poles indicating fiber/cable lines are along my home and street for years. We just noticed they are labeled as ATT. I'm hoping this project will connect us to the network and make fiber services available to us.
