AT&T doesn't publicize expansions with the public, or with it's local field employees. If you see contractors pulling fiber on poles or underground, it could indicate that fiber is coming. However, it's often just being run through a neighborhood on it's way to somewhere else. You should know that AT&T isn't concentrating on fiber expansion in existing neighborhoods any more. Most new fiber is dedicated to 5G towers, government & emergency services and new housing developments.

Are you considering relocating to an address with faster speeds such as ATT Fiber? This would provide a definite time frame as to when to expect the faster speed.

For ATT Fiber deployed from 2016 to late 2019 to over 14 million residential addresses within select areas of the 21 state footprint, ask why?

The fiber deployment during this time frame was to satisfy one of the government conditions in allowing ATT to purchase DirecTv in the summer of 2015. The condition was to reach 12.5+ million addresses within 4 years, in essence summer 2015 to summer 2019.

The where to deploy... was mainly looking at competing companies offers... the announcement of Google Fiber cities of Kansas City, etc

The service was first introduced to the Kansas City metropolitan area,[6] including twenty Kansas City area suburbs within the first three years. Initially proposed as an experimental project,[7] Google Fiber was announced as a viable business model on December 12, 2012, when Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt stated "It's actually not an experiment, we're actually running it as a business," at the New York Times' DealBook Conference.[8]

ATT also looked at where cable was improving speeds thus cable offering fiber in one part of a neighborhood meant ATT likely did also, while the non fiber parts where not upgraded.

ATT reached the goal and exceeded by 10% reaching the 14+ million.

Now the goal is to get a 50% uptake rate from those 14 million addresses or stated another way is to have 7 million fiber accounts out of the already deployed fiber by end 2022.

If successful and depending on results with 5G and 5G+ wireless activity I would expect ATT will start deploying fiber to existing address in upcoming years hopefully reaching 35% of total addresses which would be around 28 million, doubling the current reach. That does mean 65% of addresses will not receive fiber upgrade.

These are just some of my thoughts based upon public company comments over the past several years, internet search would reveal the statements of chief officials in the company. I am expecting the next big announcement to be near end of January 2021 when reporting 2020 finances with future goals. BYW the 50% uptake goal was announced January 2020 before COVID.
