What rooms does the tech need access to?

@meolive, if this is a repair, the tech does not necessarily need to access any other bedrooms if the gateway is located anywhere else other than those bedrooms. However, if there is any error or connection issue affecting other areas of your home the tech may need to access other areas to check any wiring or connections, if any.  If this is a new install, the gateway will most likely be set up in your living room and accessing other rooms won't be necessary.

Depending on the layout of your house will determine what rooms the technician will need access to for your tech appointment. They will be able to provide further information once they arrive to your house. We have a video on what to expect for an installation appointment.

This DID NOT answer my question whatsoever. I have someone who doesn't keep normal hours and I need to know if access to the 2nd story bedrooms is necessary 

If you are going to be using Wi-Fi and not have any devices hardwired, then they should only need access to the room that the modem will be located.  

Basically they drill a hole to run the wire from the outside to the inside to connect the modem and any other equipment the modem needs.

This is sheer speculation.  🤷‍♀️
