Running a new Fiber Line to my house

Hi, our property has 2 buildings: a back apartment and the main house in front. Currently, there is an AT&T fiber line running from the pole in the alley to the back apartment. Would it be difficult to get a fiber line running to the house as well? Is this something an AT&T technician could do?

Hello @hippiebrad,

We thank you for your interest in AT&T services

Unfortunately there is a bit more that goes into it then just running a line.

There are several reasons why AT&T internet service may not be available to you.

  • Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  • The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  • Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you.

While we do not currently have a process for seeing when our services will get to you, we can notify you as soon as it is available! All you have to do is fill out this form and we can let you know.

You will only be notified of AT&T U-verse availability as you requested and you will not receive any other notices based upon this correspondence.

If you are not interested in being notified you can always check any address for our services.

Once services become available you can contact us here and we will get you set up.

We hope this helps @hippiebrad, please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Do you currently have att fiber service to the apartment? Are there 2 separate postal addresses?

have you entered the house address here?

Thanks for the help, I sent in a request to see availability of U-verse in my area. Only 1 postal address on lot. No service to apartment but there is a line running from the pole in the alley to the back apartment. It's appr. 80 feet between apartment fiber connection and main house, and about 90 feet from pole to main house, so hopefully distance isn't the issue. I'm assuming they'd run a new line from the pole to the main house instead of splitting the apartment line? I don't know much about U-verse. Do we need U-verse in order to get just internet? We don't need TV, phone, etc.

First of all, only one att account is allowed per address. If att service is available to the address, you would have to get a second address for the apartment. Second, their would have to be a fiber connector on the fiber line near both buildings to connect to. Google optisheath multiport connector to see if one is on or near the fiber line.

Enter the postal address in the link I gave you. It will tell you what att services are available.

An internet account is all you need if internet service is available.
