First step would be to contact the contractor. That’s why they are insured and bonded

As stated, AT&T will only get involved if one of their employees cause damage.

First, I didn't know the name of the contractor.  Second, I finally found who I supposed to contact - Sedgwick Ins - to make a claim.  I was transferred to a person how contacted the subcontractor who was responsible for the buying.  They came out and inspected the damage.  They said the people who buried the cable would be back late afternoon to make the repair.  They did return and made the repair after tearing up more of my lawn.  The did a passible job.  I ended up having to purchase soil to fill in area where the dripline was repaired and the trench the cable was buried under.

The phone number is:  1-800-288-2020.

That's the number for AT&T CUSTOMER SERVICE,  not Sedgwick.

I received an email from an IHX manager (with an att.com email address) and he gave me that number.

In any case, that is the number I called and had the repair done.
