Ont box is gone from the apartment i just moved in

I just moved in to an apartment blindfolded. My landlord said the previous tenant had att but when I got there the ont box was gone, only a black cabe with a green tip was sticking out. Now I can’t even schedule an appointment because customer service doesn’t understand that what I’m missing is the ONT box, not my wifi modem.
