New AT&T Fiber Service Running Extremely Slow

I just moved into a rental house that is equipped for AT&T Fiber and signed up for the 1000Mbps service. I received my BGW320 Gateway in the mail on Friday and set it up with the ONT box as instructed. The three lights on the ONT box that are supposed to be on are on, and I’m getting internet connection through the gateway, but it is running extremely slow to the point it’s basically unusable. I’ve restarted the gateway multiple times and done speed tests through AT&T SmartHome Manager and third party apps and haven’t gotten any speeds higher that 2-3Mbps. Does anyone have any advice on what could be going on? My ONT box is located in the garage and I live in a very hot area, so I’m wondering if the temperature is causing this significant slow down. If so, I’m not sure what my options are besides finding a way to run an Ethernet cable from the garage to the inside of the house without drilling holes in this rental house. It seems odd that AT&T locates their ONT boxes in locations within the house that are affected by extreme hot and cold weather knowing their equipment can fail under these conditions…

Wired or wireless speed tests? What does the Att speed test report? Factory reset the gateway is always a good thing to do when receiving a gateway.

Wireless speed test, which I know will show slower speeds than a wired test. Even still, it should be faster than the 2mbps upload and download on wireless that AT&T Speed Test is giving me. I’ll try doing a factory reset on my Gateway this afternoon. Just worried about the heat since it’s been 100+° outside every day for about the past month, although my gateway has been extremely slow since the moment it was activated and before it would’ve gotten overheated.

Where is the gateway located in relation to where you do the speed test? Have you used Smart Home Manager app to look for Wi-Fi dead spots?

My Fiber seems to be very spotty in regards to up/down speeds. When first installed, I was getting 4500 in both directions.
