Installation experiencing upgrading from 1Gig to 5Gig

I’m upgrading from 1Gig to 5Gig. Presumably my old wall-mounted ONT in my closet and Pace 5268AC gateway will be replaced by a newer combined ONT/gateway BGW320.

Can anyone who has recently had this done share your experiences and let me know what to expect? Was it an easy and quick job or did it take hours? And are they able to wall-mount the new gateway in the same place on the wall that the old ONT was on?

The current wall bracket for the 010 ONT should be removed, replacement would be ATT Fiber plate with a 3 meter (10 ft) fiber cable to attach to the gateway.

If I understand your description correctly, the 320 can be placed where the 5268 is currently on a shelf. The fiber cable would replace the Ethernet cable from current setup.

The tech will need to change the jumper connection at PFP moving you from GPON splitter to XSGPON splitter. Replacing equipment inside closet, activate the new 320…. Estimated time with testing requirements 45 minutes to an hour.

No outside work should need to be done but tech might perform an inspection and correct anything deemed necessary.

I would imagine you don’t need different equipment or a tech visit. They just change your account profile and you reboot your existing equipment. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will stop by and confirm or set it straight.

Correct on the removal of the wall mount ONT and 5268.

A 320 gateway with RED (XSGPON) SFP will be installed.

The 320 does not mount on the wall would need a bracket or self to place the 320 on.

The 5268 and ONT are in the same general location?

Not an Ethernet cable to a different part of home?

my thoughts, my ONT and gateway are both in my closet, with the gateway on a shelf several feet away. Do the techs have brackets or wall-mounting equipment for the gateway in their trucks? If the gateway can be installed on the wall where the ONT currently is, then all the Ethernet cables going to all my rooms can be plugged straight into the gateway instead of having to use an Ethernet switch.
