Implementing WiFi Mesh with Custom DNS Settings

Hi, I have ATT Fiber in my home and the unit does not support custom DNS settings such as OpenDNS. I want to use custom DNS because I have kids in my home and I want to ensure they are not browsing inappropriate url's on their smartphones, and also potential malware sites. Additionally, I want to address some dead spots in the home which is also why I am interested in a mesh system. Is anyone aware of which mesh systems they have had success with with this use case? Eero, Google, etc?? Does anyone know if those systems allow you to use custom DNS settings and then turn off WiFi on the ATT device and basically place it in bridge mode.

Let's see if we can point you in the right direction, @.

In regards to the Parental Controls, you can use our Smart Home Manager App to set up any of the following:

  • Create profiles for every user
  • Block internet access on certain sites for the device
  • Set time limits for devices

Also, you would have to set up IP Passthrough on your AT&T gateway to be able to run a third party gateway. After this, you can change anything that you want, in regards to custom settings.

Let us know if this helps.
