I can't connect get two devices to connect to my Wi-Fi

One laptop connects fine, and the other errors and won't open a browser. www.google.com refused to connect. The AT&T one shows ACCESS BLOCKED Access to this website has been blocked on your device due to the time of day or due to the amount of activity. To change this, contact the person who manages your Internet account. If I connect to an Ethernet Cable it works just fine.

We're here to help get your device connected via Wi-Fi, @Pat Riot!

Thank you for your help @JefferMC!

First, let's have you follow these steps to check if a profile has been made for the laptop. If there is one, you can check to see if the device has internet access paused.

These are the steps to check for a profile:

  1. Go to Smart Home Manager.
  2. Select Network, then Connected Devices.
  3. In Profiles:
    • Choose the + sign to create a new profile, then enter a name
    • Select the profile where you want to add devices
  4. Choose devices from the available list.
  5. Select Save.

If you don’t see a device you want to add, it may already be assigned to another profile. Want to delete a profile? Select Delete.

Keep in mind: AT&T service equipment can’t be assigned to a profile. This includes equipment for:

  • Internet: Wi-Fi gateways or extenders
  • TV: Receivers, streaming players, routers, or extenders
  • Digital life security: Controllers, in-home tablets, or powerline adapters

If a profile is being shown for the laptop in question, you can resume access by following these steps:

  1. From Profiles, choose a profile to edit.
  2. Select Pause Internet. When you’re ready to grant access again, choose Resume.

Good to know: When you pause internet access, devices for that profile can’t use your internet. However, smart devices connected to mobile networks outside of your network can still get online.

Also to answer your question, no it will not, as that is all managed using the Smart Home Manager app.

Let us know if these steps help! If not, we may ned to invite you into a direct message to research this further for you.

... ACCESS BLOCKED Access to this website has been blocked on your device due to the time of day or due to the amount of activity. To change this, contact the person who manages your Internet account.

This message would indicate that someone has used Smart Home Manager to assign the MAC address of the Wi-Fi card on this specific PC to a profile, and then disabled Internet Access for that profile.  Since the wired Ethernet interface would have a different MAC, which has apparently not been assigned to a profile, it doesn't get blocked by that profile.

If I reset the modem, will that reset the disabled IA for that profile? I am the owner of this account and my wife is who is blocked. Do you have steps to resolve or a link to read them?

I just got AT&T Fiber as my new ISP and I am very impressed with the care and consideration they have when offering us this forum to help us resolve most issues ourselves with easy-to-understand, steps to resolve. I am very pleased to be on board with AT&T Fiber.
