We're here to help you with your fiber install concern, f16.

In order to get fiber lines installed directly to your home, we recommend that you check for internet fiber availability in your area using our AT&T coverage map. This will allow you to see if Fiber is already available at your home or when it'll be available.

Let us know if this helps.

AT&T has installed Fiber lines on the pole, 100 feet away from my house 2 months ago.  1 month ago AT&T were working at installing the Fiber lines under ground in our neighborhood. Marking flags and workers were there for 3-4 days.

My question is: When will I be able to activate fiber service from AT&T to my address 510 Hunter Xing, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304.  I want to switch my mobile service to AT&T too.  If I have to wait much longer, I will have to choose another carrier for mobile service while I continue to use my existing internet service provider.

In general customer support is very low when trying to get answers about fiber connectivity.  Customer Reps listen,  say they will call you back after they verify.... but do not call you back( about 5 times promises were made). I had a supervisor hang up on me when I told him I would not change my current ISP to AT&T using an alternative method because the speeds was not available that I needed (100 +).

Please, please, please....can you tell me when I can activate fiber connectivity to my house at the above address. We have 14 homes in our subdivision. Many work from home.

If have a fiber terminal (pics?) near your home with additional work being done underground could be 2 to 9 months.

This depends upon the size of deployment being provided from minimum of 60 to 800+ addresses. The more addresses the longer the deployment time.

Next is facilities above or below ground level, aerial from pole is much faster and likely 1/3 the cost to deploy compared to contractors boring, orange conduit, fiber being pulled, terminals being placed, testing, and of course the PFP being installed with all the fiber splicing required.

All addresses for the PFP should be turned live for ordering at the same time, meaning checking your address and surrounding neighborhood addresses should show the same status. No one can answer when until the addresses are released (turned green) for ordering.

Past company statements quote up to 2 years from planning to activation. You’re past the planning stage. As this is start of February, goal is providing 3 million addresses within 100+ markets in 21 states per year… you will be part of 2023 count if have fiber terminals on your street… just which quarter likely 2nd (April-June) or 3rd (July-September).

Based upon past experience shared you might not want to the first but wait 2 months after ordering available to have a better first install chance instead of missing equipment or fiber issues that result in delaying your installation.

Just my thoughts…

Hey there @Trying_to_become_a_Fiber_customer. We understand that you want Fiber internet service, and we'd be happy to help figure out why it's still not currently available.

We appreciate @my thoughts for providing that helpful information.

You can check here for information on why Fiber may not be available in your area.

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

If you believe it should be available in your area, but it doesn't show up when you try to order service, you can fill out an address research request. Just fill out the form, and we'll look into it and get back to you!

You can also sign up for Fiber notification, so you can be notified whenever Fiber is available for your address.

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you. I completed the fiber notification form and provided more information on the access research request about workers installing  orange fiber underground in front of our homes and installing fiber on poles behind our home.

I asked the AT&T field worker walking  through my yard what they were doing. I was told they installed fiber that is live on the pole behind our home 100 feet away. Call AT&T about getting connected two weeks after that conversation.  In front of our house thick orange fiber was on reel with a team of field workers for many days. They packed up and were gone before I had time to ask questions.
