Homeowner Requirements for AT&T Fiber
AT&T is placing conduit and fiber in my neighborhood. What are the homeowner requirements to connect to this service? If AT&T buries a fiber service drop from the handhole to my house (where the current copper drop and electric meter are located), will AT&T place an ONT on the outside of my house? Will you need a standard (110vac) weatherproof outlet available? Or do I need to provide an entrance conduit into my house for the fiber termination, electrical outlet, and gateway connection?

The current install procedure is to bring the fiber all the way into the room where the gateway will be situated. Left to their own choices, that means the tech will drill a hole in a wall and try and find a good spot that's easy to get to inside. That may or may not be the ideal place for a gateway if you have long distances to where you want wifi service.
If you install a conduit w/pull string and route that to exactly where you think is the best place I'm sure the tech would be thrilled to accommodate you. Avoid 90 deg bends

We're happy to see that you're interested in AT&T Fiber, Craig2109!
There's no need to concern yourself with the ins and outs of the installation. When you order service, the technician will determine the best way to connect everything, and let you know if any additional work needs to be done.
If you have any other questions, we'll be here. Thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums team!

Aminah,
Thanks for your quick response to my concerns. The reason behind my questions is I am having some remodeling done and Hardie plank installed as the last step. Rather than having holes drilled in the Hardie board, I would place conduit with a pull string behind the sheathing. Or, provide for ac power near the ONI if AT&T stops on the outside of the residence. I'm trying to avoid hearing "you should have done XXX when you were remodeling" or ""if you had contacted AT&T, we would have told you what our requirements were".

When I built my home I had the builder place 3/4 inch conduit where I wanted fiber to enter the house with an empty gang box connected to it. The inside ONT is located there with an electrical outlet nearby. If I can ever get fiber to the gateway, the installer won’t have much work to convert it.
