Finding a number or way to connect with someone to actually dig the conduit box to run internet at our home…

We bought a brand new home at the end of July in Charleston, SC. Every person has a box set up outside their home to run the conduit to their home setup. Our box is sitting on the ground, undug and no conduit ran to it. I’ve had 3 AT&T Techs come out in the last 2 weeks and nothing has been done. 811, the contractors of the home, and 2 electricians have also been out to the home and keep saying it’s AT&T’s property and won’t touch it. I’ve called over 17 times the last 2 weeks. I received a text yesterday from the person dispatching the Tech, I sent pictures and told them the scenario. They SWORE someone would be there today to properly install the box and run our line. After waiting for 2.5 hours, guess who shows up? The Tech that initially came, and didn’t do anything again.

The amount of time and stress it is to have this completed is insane.

How do I get internet here?

Hired contractors can take weeks, work order, time scheduled, and needing the required equipment to be in stock which has been I  short supply since at least September 2021... part of the reason ATT was 400,000 short of their planned 3 million deployment in 2021.

This is a construction project not a Uverse tech, the tech can create an SRN ticket for missing facilities then your waiting for the appropriate workgroups to resolve.

No need to schedule an installation till the outside work is completed which I have seen take up to 3 months. In the meantime consider the other ISPs in your area which may include cable, wireless hotspot or satellite internet until ATT fiber can be installed.

Just my thoughts...

Your builder should have had that done during construction.

As per them and the Tech, they can’t as it is AT&T property. I’ve had them out, 811 out and 2 electricians. It has to be a hired AT&T contractor to install the box.

I am!

Have had numerous VW’s throughout my life. Sold my prized 74 Westi 3 years ago. 3 kids etc. I didn’t have time or cash for the constant work needed to keep it up. That was my 5th Bus. I’ll get another one day!

We're sorry to see that the process to get the utility box set up, and your Internet connected has taken so long, vwdeadhead.

As my thoughts stated, a missing facilities ticket has to be created to get the right technician out to properly set up the box and run the conduit to your house. We recommend calling 800-288-2020 and asking that a ticket be submitted.

If you need assistance with anything else, please don't hesitate to reach back out.

I tried this,

They promised they would have it done yesterday. I waited 3 hours, to have the original Tech call me and say he can’t do anything. Friday I was told the ticket was created, and brought to a manager and put out to be done yesterday between 12-2pm. I waited to no avail. That same woman I spoke with had me send pictures of the box still sitting empty above ground, in my front yard.

After the No show, and call from the original tech, I made about 15 calls. A woman said another ticket was made, but gave NO Date of service. So I kept calling other AT&T numbers. I received a random phone call from a “Upper Management” personnel who said they have me in as priority and promise it will be done by this Wednesday.

I’m sadly not in the slightest optimistic someone will show up by Wednesday after all of this. Who do I call then? Because the 1-800 number you posted has been of little help at this rate.

Comcast is the only other option, and they have terrible service by us. So that doesn’t help my or my wife’s businesses. We have had to sit in a Lowe’s parking lot to get Wi-Fi strong enough to send the files we need to for work. That’s just insane.

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of the contractors. AT&T doesn’t do this and anyone without contacting the contractor and getting a definitive date without knowing their work capacity no one should be telling you it would be done on any given date.
