Fiber outside to inside home
I upgraded from ATT Fiber 1000 to 5000. I used to have the BGW210 in my house and that white ONT box outside in the communication enclosure.
Now they've replaced it with BGW320-500 but put that outside directly connecting the fiber to the SFP port on the BGW-320.
My worry is this big BGW320 is not rated for outdoor even though it's in a enclosure but outside. I often get 108F to 112F days in the summer and the box seems rated only for 107F. Do they place these outside very often like that?
If I wanted to run it to my utility closet, is there a method where I can reuse the existing cat6e from my outdoor to my utility closet to plug in the BGW320 there. I guess not...I'd have to convert the fiber to rj45 somehow outside in a way that supports 5000gps upgrade. TY for any gudiance. Maybe I shouldn't worry and just leave it out there.
Last note is I also ordered a bgw320-500 off the internet before he got here. Brand new but he couldn't get it to do 5000gbs. Is there some missing certicate or something to enable the SFP port? He replaced it with one he had from ATT.

Putting the BGW320 outside like this is definite a non-standard configuration unless your "communication enclosure" is a much nicer thing than I'm picturing. There are strict environmental requirements for the BGW320, and what you're describing sounds outside of those. He registered the ONT inside the BGW320 to work, not the one you bought off of the Internet. He probably could have activated that one, but he really wasn't supposed to and did not. Since the service fee now includes the Gateway, I'm not really sure what purpose was served in buying one.

Thanks for the reply. Still seeking for how get it from the outside to inside given the agreement then it wasn't built for outdoor temps. It is a very, very, large communication enclosure and fits fine, it's just the heat probably will wreck it in it's first summer.

Since you asked, original intent was not to get ahead of the installer who would solve it. The BGW210 is only 1gps network, and I upgraded to bgw320 (which ATT does support you buying) to get the higher throughput into my 10g network. That worked fine and was easy to install. They won't give you a BGW320 unless your service requires it. But then I saw I could upgrade to 5000 service, so this happened out of order.

Att does not sell its gateways. You bought a gateway that woukd not work on the att network. Tech was correct to not install yours. Return it and get your money back.
Is there is a way to run fiber to your network closet through the att NID on the side of your house? Conduit that existing cat 5/6 runs through that can be used to pull fiber?
If it’s not easy for the tech to get the fiber there, they won’t try. So you may have to pay someone or figure out yourself how to make it simple for the tech to get fiber and thus the gateway in the network closet.
