Fiber lines being ran overhead through my small town

Our town (very small) has had Uverse for about 2 years now, 48Mbps max if close. They have just ran new fiber lines via telephone poles down the main hwy, I'm currently limited to the 6Mbps b/c I am ~8000ft from the VRAD. I was wondering if I could pay to have my house connected w/fiber to the VRAD over the current copper connection. I can purchase fiber for around .37/linear foot (maybe ATT would offer cheaper?)

I don't quite know why they are running this new fiber unless they are prepping for Gigapower, which I wouldn't think they would as the town I live in is very small and rural, though the closest Gigapower city is ~15 miles away (the direction the new overhead fiber has been ran)

Hi @cjones1130,

Thank you for your interest in U-verse services. When it comes to the U-verse service, there is strict regulations and planning when provisioning services. We are hoping we will be able to get you higher speeds in the future.

I understand this, the question is the ability to expedite or even come out of pocket for installation.

Nope, that never occurs, things will go along at 'phone company time'. 😉

Interesting, I know most cable providers allow for business customers to come out of pocket for installs costing more than a certain amount of $$$, just figured it would be an option.
