Engineering Issue - Hoe can I contact engineeting dept to find out exact estimate of when my At& T Internet service will be installed

I placed the AT&T internet service installation order during the last week of Nov-2021. My installation was scheduled and then put on hold due to some engineering issue. After a few days, I checked with AT&T support via chat and it was rescheduled again but no one showed up on the due day. I again called the At&T support number and was told my internet installation was again put on hold as the engineering issue has not resolved yet. It is very frustrating, the order should only be accepted if installation is possible.

How can I reach the engineering dept to find the current status before I cancel my order? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can’t reach engineering per day we don’t deal with the public.

New construction in new subdivision?

Most likely issue is no fiber terminals available to be placed. Without terminal have one of the possible causes for facilities issue… others may be no fiber splitter, fiber deployment delayed, etc either from equipment shortages or labor shortages. These are real issues for almost 2 years since Covid started in 1st quarter 2020.

ATT had stated beginning of year desire to add 3 million residential fiber addresses this year within 90+ markets in 21 states. In September announced would be 500,000 short due to shortage of fiber and fiber related equipment but still planned on providing 15 million addresses over 5 years from 2021 to end 2025.

I am aware of one local customer who purchased new home in new subdivision beginning of September 2021. Their fiber term was installed Dec 21 with installation of service scheduled for Dec 30. In effect will have service 4 months after purchasing and moving in. They could have had the local cable company service during this time but instead choose to use cellular hotspot as did not want cable.

conclusion, you can continue to wait or consider other options available till ATT fiber available.

Note aware of customer ordered service in October 2020 but fiber was not ready till April 2021, 6 months later… they did install local company service while waiting.
