Can't download McAfee

I'm not able to download  McAfee to my new laptop.   There is an "English Download" blue button on the ATT McAfee download page.  When I click on it it takes me to the McAfee site with a message that says "A System Error Occurred.   Please try again."  I've been  trying  at random times for over a week with no change.  I've tried FireFox, Chrome and IE browsers.  Since the error is on the McAfee site I contacted them but they said the issue was with AT&T.  I'm on a windows 10 machine.  Can anyone help?

We're here to help, @mguseracct

We recommend trying these steps.

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/53b0d6b7 ( do not click "download now" yet.)
  2. Log in at the top, using the log in button
  3. Then click download
  4. You will then login again at the screen that comes up
  5. Follow the remaining instructions to install

Let us know if this helps.

This had the same result.  Any other suggestions?  Do those steps work for you?

@mguseracct

Do you have any existing security software installed? If so we recommend uninstalling it as this may prevent the download of new software.

We also recommend doing a pre-installation cleanup

Here is additional information on Installing the security suite that you may find helpful.

Let us know if this helps.

There isn't existing security software on my computer.  Even if there was, that may impact the installation but not the download.   I've now tried this with two other laptops with the same error.  I believe the problem is on the web site. Please try to do this yourself.   I also ask anyone in the community to try and let me know if the download works. You don't have to run the install.

Hi @mguseracct, we are delighted to help with our AT&T Internet Security Suite.

We suggest reading through our article on Installing AT&T Internet Security Suite to make sure that you meet the account requirements (an Internet plan of 3.0Mbps or higher) and checking out the McAfee Knowledge Center to do the pre-installation cleanup.

Make sure your Mac meets these minimum operating system requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.8 or higher
  • Computer with Intel processor
  • 1GB RAM or higher
  • 150MB of available free drive space

If after this, you're still unable to install the security suite, let us know.

Thank you for contacting us on AT&T Community Forums!

Your response is for an installation issue. I have a download issue.   These all look like chatbot \or automated, canned responses.   I'll call support.

ATT! You have an issue with the redirect for customers to log in to get Mcafee. We can't install because we can't even download the software. This is what the url says with the error message:

https://home.mcafee.com/(Edited per community guidelines)/PartnerAutoLoginError.aspx?culture=EN-US&affid=679&error_code=34

Please fix this!

Hi, @amyjogarner.

Did you try out any of our previous suggestions?

If not, please do so and let us know if you still need help.

Do you even read what people are saying? Yes, I have tried all those things. This is not an installation issue. Look at the URL I provided it clearly says "auto login error." But I'm over it. I downloaded a different antivirus program. For a communications company, AT&T has the worst communication possible.

Thanks for  the back up @amyjogarner .   Your right  - they either don't read what we are saying or they truly don't have a clue.  I finally called support who acknowledged they had a problem with their web site and had me go thru a hidden site to get McAfee.   If the AT&T people reading my request had simply tried to download it themselves we would have at this resolved a long time ago.
