Can’t connect Vizio Tv to wifi

We just got fiber internet. Everything has connected well and working wonderfully except our Vizio tvs. Every time we get a message saying can’t connect. I’m not sure what to do. We have one TV that’s a different brand and it connected just fine. It’s only the Vizio branded ones that we are having the issue.

Does your model Vizio have the ability to connect to a 5GHz wifi network, or just 2.4GHz?

If the latter, it may be that it's not happy with the combined 2.4 and 5GHz network that is the default on the AT&T gateways.

You have two ways to try and fix it.  You have to separate the bands or set up the Guest Wifi Network which is 2.4GHz only and point the TV to that.

At some point during either of these operations you'll be asked for the Access Code which is found on the gateway itself.

To go with the first solution, go to http://192.168.1.254 then click the Home Network tab and then Wi-Fi.  Click the Advanced Options link in the upper left area of the page.  In the 5GHz section change the Network Name (SSID) to something else.  I usually suggest just adding a -5 onto the end of the current name.  Scroll down and hit Save.  Oh, ignore the dire warnings about the end of civilization if you change the name.

Then you'll need to take any devices you want to use the 5GHz band and point them at the new SSID.  the 2.4GHz devices should just reconnect.

If you'd rather go the Guest Wifi route, go to the first Wi-Fi page and Enable the Guest Network and point the TV at the Guest SSID.
