ATT Uverse Fiber Services for community hidden cove in Frisco TX

Many people in our community have voiced their frustration with the subpar internet service over the years for several reasons:

  1. The majority of homes in our community (even newer builds) were supplied (by ATT) with ancient copper line/DSL technology. This is not only unreliable but unusable for anything but light internet browsing.
  2. The already subpar service on already slow connections, frequent outages, and wildly fluctuating speeds are problematic, especially now since COVID-19 restrictions cause more people to work from home and students to attend classes online.
  3. The provider has not expressed any plans to upgrade any homes tp enable a minimum acceptable download speed of 100mb/s.
  4. A good number of residents are unable to achieve anything faster than 20mb/s; often, it's slower if more than a single user is accessing the internet.
  5. Several ISPs have investigated opportunities of offering alternate service options in our neighborhoods over the years--none of which have come to fruition.

Our HOA leaders have reached to ATT and Spectrum, but it seems that there is no interest; no calls returned, etc. It would be great to have an option to us as well; the surrounding neighborhood, we are talking about communities across the street, are already equipped with fiber internet, while our community is left with no hopes for improvements.

Our plead is that this request reaches upper management, and the solution is put in place to accommodate our current neighborhood needs for reliable and faster internet.

PS. We already tried calling the proper numbers, opening requests, etc.

Just as an FYI, we already have been pointed to verify if fiber services are offered in our community - it does not (but it does exist in locations within 100 ft or so). For the last two years or so, individuals in our community have requested for fiber installation, despite our efforts to request, no fruits as of yet.

Hello @eandrade07

The request for faster Internet services in a community is always understood and be assured, we would love to support all communities with AT&T Fiber services.

Please know that there are may variables involved with delivering Fiber to a community or address; permits, construction, etc. There may be plans in place to expand; however, please know that customer care and responses through our Forum will not be able to give specifics because it's unknown.

When the information is available, it's updated through our availability map. Also, when Fiber is "coming soon", usually that detail is listed upon entering a specific address.

We would like to provide you with information regarding Fiber availability; however, at this time we're only going to be able to direct you to our availability.

Please know that we are doing our best to expand our Fiber coverage and we hope to be able to offer your neighborhood AT&T Fiber in the future. At this time we do not have any further information to provide.

You can continue to check our coverage map as well as check other potential AT&T options that my be available for your address.

Chad, AT&T Community Specialist.

As I mentioned in my earlier question, we have already checked the link provided; there are services literally within 100-200 feet away from our community. The map you reference does not show anything for our area (Not available nor underway). Please kindly find a way to escalate this to your upper management and provide us a more concrete (nongeneric) direction.

@eandrade07 it does not work this way. These forums are primarily for peer to peer assistance. If you want to explore a Fiber offering for your Community. Your HOA group will need to contact AT&T through the Connected Community program.

Just because there is existing Fiber services within 100-200 feet means very little. It is not a simple matter of extending services to include your community. It would help to know how may homes or units make up your community. Are you considering a Bulk contract between your HOA and AT&T? Have you surveyed your community to see how many residents would be interested in subscribing to AT&T Fiber?

Fiber plant installs are designed and engineered for a specific number of customers in a specific area. It typically takes 12-18 months from initial planning start to service being available. AT&T also needs to determine if it is financial beneficial to make the capital investment for your community.

Our HOA surveyed our community, and over 400 people responded that they want fiber. ATT currently is promoting fiber internet services at about $49.99 for the nearby areas that do have fiber; at this rate just for internet, there is the possibility of about $19.9K per month or $239.9K per year for the service provider. It seems like an excellent opportunity for ATT as the current provider of DSL services. We would love to see ATT see this is an opportunity that carries reasonable ROI (return on investment). Alternatively, this could also represent a lost opportunity for ATT if another provider does decide that it is a feasible opportunity to provide fiber to us.

@ATTHelp We complete the form as suggested. Not sure what SLA is in place for a response, hopefully we will hear from someone soon.

There is no SLA aka a Service Level Agreement is not relevant to this proposal process but you could expect it to take months before the pandemic. In today's world think of it in terms of 6-12 months.

Fortunately for the neighborhood another solution provider is willing to get fiber into our community and in about a couple month we will be equipped with 1GB capable infrastructure. An opportunity loss for ATT, more than 450 homes now has options.
