AT&T Internet and Your Home - Tips & Solutions from the Community

How to check your address and learn why service may not be available, yet

Below you'll find information on how to check to see if AT&T Internet is available and details on why it may not be at this time.

Check your address and ticket requests

We are continually expanding our fiber footprint to more households every day. If you’d like to check if service is available to you now or to sign up for a notification if it does become available in the future, please visit

We will send you a notification via your preferred method as soon as AT&T Fiber becomes available to you.

Why Service May Not Be Available Yet

New Homes

If your house was just built, there is a chance line or equipment has not been set up. Unfortunately adding these things does not happen overnight and takes anywhere from a few weeks to years.

There is a lot that goes into servicing an area like, permits requests, engineers creating blueprints, adding the lines, and other equipment. There is a lot that goes into it so you can begin to understand why it may not be available right away.

Work crews

There are many crews digging lines, placing equipment, and working on the backend to get service up for many neighborhoods. Unfortunately, there is only so much manpower available. If it was a matter of yes or no, we would rather say yes than tell you it is not ready.

When is AT&T Internet Coming?

Does AT&T know when Fiber is coming to my home?

We do not, unfortunately. Dates can change which means telling you what is coming is near impossible. You can check what areas have AT&T Fiber now.

What to look out for?

When you see crews digging or placing cable, there is a chance service is on the way. That is not always the case, digging could mean new water, gas pipes, or power cables.

If you see an AT&T box or pedestal, service may be available. One thing to understand, some pedestals or equipment service houses in another part of the block. Because of how we set it up, they cannot be modified to service your home.

Other things to know about new builds

  • Your address must be registered via USPS. Our systems tie into theirs to show you exist. AT&T does not perform this. You have to go to the USPS with supporting documentation. Contact your local post office to determine what you need.
  • If your home was just built and AT&T Fiber is available, please be aware, additional work may need to be performed. This may mean installing a fiber line or placing additional components in the area. This can delay your installation by a few days.
  • Some houses may not get U-verse because it falls into a competitor’s area, like Verizon. AT&T does not have equipment in areas like this and may not for the foreseeable future.
  • You live in a rural area where houses are miles apart. Consider AT&T Fixed Wireless - a solution for rural areas.

Our teams do not have information if or when services will be available. We wish we did. The only thing we can do is what is mentioned above like checking your address, requesting a check, or request to be notified.

For some reason, when I am looking at Internet plans for my household, it displays me as having the highest tier of internet. But when I check the house right besides me, it shows that there is a higher speed! Is there any way for me to upgrade my household to that speed?

Hi, @hughes982215, we're happy to address your question about upgrading your Internet speed!

AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service.

If your home is too far away from the equipment, certain speeds may not be available. This would explain why your neighbor qualifies for a higher speed tier than you - their house is closer to our equipment

If you have any other questions, just let us know!
