Access to a fiber line.

I live in a rural area in Georgia. A dairy about 3 miles down the road has paid for you guys to put in a fiber line. It runs in front of my house. I was just wondering if we could get access to it for internet. We built our house in 2004 and only have access to satellite internet which is the worst.

no the dairy paid tens of thousands of dollars for a dedicated fiber line which cannot be used in residential services they also spend several hundred to a thousand per month for that service

Are you willing to pay similar to what the dairy paid?

ATT Dedicated Business Fiber is a single line from the source around $10 per foot. Monthly cost start around $550 for 10/10, $1100 for 100/100 and $2200 for 1000/1000. If willing to spend around $100k should be available for installation and about (3) years of service.

Of course helps if your an actual business who can write the expenses off.

As not a shared fiber like residential (1:32 splitter) you would be responsible for entire cost instead of shared cost.

If wish more information… ATT Dedicated Business Fiber

Hi NoSlack101st, thank you for your interest in AT&T Internet.

We don't see any messages other than your first one and the one we're responding to now. We don't see that they were deleted either. Try posting them again.

I'll try to say it again. Lets see if this gets deleted. I was talking to the tech installing the fiber line and he said it was for the dairy down the road, but when I check on the website it states that fiber is coming soon to my address. Will they come out again to run another line?

If this is a mailing, generally sent to everybody on area (zip code) not necessarily means individual addresses will receive service.

The future will reveal itself as time passes between now and end 2025.

I've been waiting 18 years for decent internet. Nothing will change. It was online by the way.

We understand fast internet is a must, @NoSlack101st

Here are some reasons why fiber may not be available in your area:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services their area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

Finally, we recommend signing up for fiber notifications. When fiber is available in your area, we'll let you know!
