Xbox One X NAT problems with BGW210-700 gateway

I recently had AT&T Fiber 1000 installed in my new apartment, and can not get my xbox one x's NAT to switch from moderate to open. My xbox shows me a "UPnP not successful" notification in my network settings. I have already forwarded the correct ports on the Arris BGW210-700 gateway that AT&T provided as well as set up a static IPv4 adress on my xbox, but still can not get an open NAT type. Any help would be appreciated

I have already visited that page and have tried everything to no avail. This is not an xbox issue, this is an AT&T issue. Please do not redirect me to xbox's website again.

Hey there, @mhk1019kstate

Our BGW210 Gateways do not support UPnP, which is why you are getting that error message.

However, there is a way to get the XBOX from moderate to open. You will need to open specific ports on your Gateway, which is a different process than forwarding them. We suggest reading and trying steps in our page on How To Change NAT Type.

Let us know if you have any further questions. We'll be here to help!

The page that you directed me to does not display the current att BGW210-700 gateway UI that shows up on my computer, nor does it tell me how to open ports as opposed to forwarding them. How do i open ports using the current modem UI?

Hello, @mhk1019kstate

Try this Port Forwarding Article.  Choose BGW-210 from the drop down for current guidance with your UI.

To open the specific ports listed on the Xbox page, you will need to access the Custom Services under Step 6.

Let us know if you need anything else.

It appears we are back to square one now. As stated in my initial posting, I have already forwarded/opened the correct ports. I have followed all of the steps listed in that article to a T, and my NAT type STILL shows up as moderate accompanied by the same previously mentioned UPnP error message. I have double checked, triple checked, and quadruple checked the custom protocols i created yet it still failed to open my nat.

You told me to make sure to let you know if i need anything else, so what i need is for customer service to actually assist me in solvong my problem, as opposed to directing me to different articles that have all failed to rectify my problem.

Thanks

Post in the Xbox forums. There may be a setting in the Xbox that is not in the att articles.

this may help.

@ATTHelp   SMH.

@mhk1019kstate  Are you an Internet-only customer or do you have Uverse TV or Phone coming through your fiber?  If Internet-only, perhaps the easiest way around the obstacles inherent in the AT&T gateway is to use a third party router with this method.

Yes i am an internet only customer. I was also starting to catch the drift that im going to have to get a third party router. @atthelp has been awful to deal with, thank you for your suggestions. I think im going to go with the new Netgear Nighthawk R8000, the thing looks like a monster.

Hey @mhk1019kstate,

Since port forwarding does not seem to be working for you. You can use IP Passthrough or DMZplus mode. What this will do is completely bypass the firewalls in the router to the device. However there is a security issue since it does bypass the routers firewalls. We do not recommend using this, but it is an option for you to choose.

Let us know if this helps.
