Wi-Fi extenders

I’m considering switching from Xfinity to ATT as my ISP and tv provider. Regarding wi-if extenders, will mesh networks e.g. Google Nest, Euro etc work with ATT Fiber and should they be as effective as what ATT offers for rent?

If it were me, I'd put the gateway in pass through mode and use the Mesh WiFi router and satellite(s) to handle all of the routing and WiFi duties. Netgear, Ubiquiti, Eero, Google, etc make good mesh systems but you need to look at your needs and decide which one will work best for you as far a coverage, installation, and usability.

Thanks!  That's exactly what I'm doing currently with my Xfinity modem/router combo, i.e. bypassing the router portion so it acts only as a modem, and using the Google mesh system, scattered around the home.

@Obbay I use my own equipment with Xfinity because I want to have better control and not use some proprietary gateway. Xfinity -> Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem -> Netgear AX4200 Mesh WiFi 6 with two hard wired satellites.

Good luck with AT&T. You have to use their gateway so if you want to continue using your Google Mesh system you'll need to put their gateway in pass through mode as they don't offer a bridge mode. As far as AT&T's extenders go, meh.
