Wifi constantly disconnecting and re-connecting
Hello, I just got setup with AT&T Fiber and I am having an issue with intermittent connectivity. I have the linksys Velop mesh network for a router system connected via ethernet to the gateway. I noticed yesterday that the gateway is putting out its own Wifi signal. With a previous provider they had to disable their router for my mesh network to work. Is that the same issue here? My gateway is: BGW320-505 Routers: Linksys Velop Thanks!

How do you have the Linksys set up, as an Access Point, or using IP Passthrough on the BGW320? If the latter, we usually do recommend disabling the wifi on the AT&T gateway so as not to interfere with the Linksys.

Yes the Linksys is setup as an access point, Technical Support disabled the wifi on the gateway and that seems to have corrected the issue. There is now however an intermittent issue with the Gateway. Every now and then it will blink red and correct itself within a minute or two. Not sure what is going on there. Every time I run a diagnostic it just says its either fine or offline. It seems completely random. Thanks

Go to http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bin/ip6lan.ha enter the Access code shown on the BGW and then disable IPv6. Click Save to complete the action. We've seen this be an issue, possibly corrected with the brand new firmware that's rolling out now.

Okay. Is a restart required after that? Also what does this do and will I need to enable it again at some point? Thanks

Probably doesn't hurt to reboot, no.
You may be familiar with IP addresses like that one I posted. Those are IPv4 addresses and every website and device on the Internet has a IPv4 address. If things had played out as predicted 10 or 15 yrs ago when it looked like the world would run out of IPv4 addresses fairly soon, IPv6 would be vastly more important than it currently is for the average user. We may still get to that point. These days pretty much everything on the Internet has both types of addresses.
By disabling it you're limited to the IPv4 address for getting to those sites/devices. I haven't enabled IPv6 in the 4+ yrs on AT&T Fiber and the previous 4 yrs on Comcast and never once ran into an issue because of that. I did that because there are times when having it enabled caused odd problems and disabling it caused no harm. This interference with the gateway's function is somewhat unique.
There are some people who actually have a need for IPv6 capability. The fact that you asked this question tells me that you don't have some special reason for implementing IPv6. 😁
But yes, you can re-enable it just by going back into that page and clicking the On option.

Thank you. Initially after doing this my download speeds were down to about half but after a restart the speeds seemed to stable out as expected. Last night I saw no indicator that the modem was dropping out during streaming or web browsing. I will continue to monitor.
I appreciate the help.
