WHY does my ATT Fiber Modem/Router keep resetting to factory defaults

First I had a BGW210 and it randomly reset itself to factory defaults about 4 times before I was over it. I contacted support and they sent me another BGW210, and guess what? The new one randomly reset itself to factory defaults 3 or so times before I went off on ATT over on Twitter.

ATT sent me another modem/router combo, this time a BGW320-500. It's barely been more than a month and this stupid piece of crap just reset itself to factory defaults. I'm sitting at my computer doing some work and watching twitch... I lose internet for about 10 seconds, think nothing of it. Internet came back, all is well. A few hours later my kid is trying to watch Netflix but the Roku TV says it's not connected. I pull out my phone to check, and sure enough.. my Wifi network is gone and the default ATT wireless network named ATTyiUXYjs is staring me in my face.

I'm so over this crap. I have like 10 static IPs set in my network, along with a dozen and half port forwards. And because NONE of these routers have a backup setting feature, I've had to MANUALLY redo this every time the router just randomly resets to default.

How am I the only person that this keeps happening to? Does some clown in ATT support just keep screwing with me??? 😭😭😭

Correct, it only saves/restores your WiFi SSIDs and passwords.  I would also assume that it would restore any Subnets that you assigned to those SSIDs.

With the update the 5ghz radio is completely unconnectable now and completely unstable. I had to disable it. Probably time for a new modem.

PrecipiceCA great find on the restore. Been having the same issue for a month or two.  Crazy you can’t perform that restore from the myatt app, just the website.  I also have noticed it won’t let me switch my 2.4 and 5 ghz anymore.  It forces me to combine both.  How can they not figure out why this is happening.  It has happened to me at all times of the day and night too.

Haha...wouldn't you know.  My internet dropped out about 10 minutes ago and lo and behold...the modem reset back to factory defaults again.

Very unusual situation, I am not sure what can cause that, If I get an answer I will try to post it, there is a new firmware available v4.24 just got released. As far as the resetting issues I would  try to eliminate any other possible causes like using reset buttons even for reboots and making sure RG is well ventilated especially bgw320 vents are on the bottom. If this continues to happen I would look for causes in the hardware itself (RG issues). The RG should absolutely never reset unless there is internal software/hardware issue or is exposed to overheating. Hope that helps.

It just happened to me AGAIN. Super frustrating. It's an automatic 30 minute job for me to redo all the settings including re-allocating all my cameras' IP addresses.

@KrisPawlak My BGW320 is in a well ventilated area, and I do not use any reset buttons in the rare occasion that I need to reboot it.

If this is your first bgw320 and keeps reseting I would recommend a swap for another one, also since you have a complex setup I would not use a reset button at all cause there are issues sometimes with button doing reset instead of reboot for 1s press.  Reboot by just unpluging the power cord for 10-15 sec.  1-2 a month to clear basic issues.

That is actually the only way I reboot the device. This is my second BGW320. The first was replaced for the exact same issue about 2 years ago.

If its not the hardware it must be some issue within the systems managing rg settings linked to your account, but that migh be very difficult to diagnose even impossibe I would say. Its easier to close account and open new one  with hope that bugs dont migrate to new account! I would try another RG before I go to those measures.
