Websites Timing Out on 1000Mbps Line FOUR Feet From Router?!?!
This is pathetic for a service that is costing $200+ a month and then having to wait DAYS for a technician to come out?
There is endless posts about this, the problem is the 5GHz radio they uses in these cheap af modems is TRASH. If you have one to three devices connected you'll be fine, but once you add a TV or two, some WiFi controlled lights and other devices, say goodbye to being able to browse any website or having pages load... let alone gaming.
My tech PHYSICALLY CUT the ethernet cables running to other lines in my place where there were jacks installed. These were setup prior (it's an apartment complex) at the AT&T junction box. I'm not buying a kit to make ethernet cables so I'm stuck using WiFi, on top of that, have to use wireless TV boxes which bog down the radio signal even more.
What solution is there to solve this? I'm limited to ONLY using AT&T in my complex, so I'm going to be annoying about this until it's fixed because I work remotely from home and can't be sitting here when websites time out or my email doesn't load. As I see it, I would need to have the ethernet cable split from the Fiber junction into a switch, then an additional gateway for each FIVE wireless devices.
Switching the modem to 2.4GHz only will allow you to connect, but my speeds on my Mac Mini, which is about five feet away is around 6 down and 7 up, nowhere close to the 1,000 I'm paying for.
