TV and fire stick download speed slow

Just got ATT fiber 300, speed test says 398 down 398 up, phone speed test almost the same. But TV and fire stick only getting 86mbs down. Netflix is lagging and TV remote doesn't make TV react quickly but also lagging. Tried all the fixes I found online, turned off ip6, didn't help, searched for best channel for 2.4 and 5, didn't help. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out, we’ll be glad to assist, @Chefkrh50,

Begin by restarting your gateway to refresh the connection and improve the speed. Just unplug the power connection behind the gateway for ~15 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for the Broadband light to turn green.

We'd also like for you to learn what you need for AT&T Fiber speed. You'll want to make sure that you have the right hardware and that you're not running any programs that may impact speed. You'll find more details and information in the link provided above.

Let us know if you need further assistance!

Thank you,

I've done all of this. I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour and no results. They are sending me a new modem/router. It's something with the TV and fire stick. My cell phone is getting almost 380 down and up so I don't think new equipment is going to solve this. This seems to be a problem a lot of people are experiencing but no one has a solution.

The Wi-Fi on a Fire TV stick isn't great.  But 86 Mbps is more than enough for streaming HD video at below 25 Mbps.  The Internet connection is likely not causing menu response issues on your TV or FireTV Stick, either.

I'm also having problems with apps on my phone since installing att. I'm getting great speed on my phone but I can't delete emails at times and have to close my email and reopen it to delete emails as well as trouble with other apps. I thought it could be the active armor that att installed, but I deleted it and still no results. Since I got ATT fiber and mobile service everything is not right.

Thanks for reaching out us again, @Chefkrh50, we hear you, and we’re here to help.

Thank you, ACE, @JefferMC, for your valuable inputs!

Internet devices come in all shapes and sizes. Each device has a maximum internet speed it can reach. But that speed might not be as fast as your possible internet service level. For example, if your older laptop or tablet only supports 11Mbps, and you have 1Gbps internet service, your laptop will never be able to reach the more than 11 Mbps.

If your TV has an Ethernet port, you can simply plug an Ethernet cable into one of the yellow Ethernet jacks on the back of your gateway.

Typically, wired connections are inherently faster because they don't have to deal with interference issues or frequency restrictions (2.4GHz vs 5GHz). If you have stable speeds from your router, then hard-wiring may give you slightly faster and more reliable speeds as mentioned.

Let us know if this helps!

Thank you,
