Teradici PCoiP Client lag in the evenings

Current plan is AT&T Internet 300 -- latest speed test around 380 Mbps download/upload.

I use Teradici PCoiP for work and need a stable 85 Mbps for everything to run smoothly. During the day everything is fine and the connection is as if I was directly connected to the virtual machine. However, at around 6pm most nights, my Teradici connection bogs down and becomes nearly unusable. The screen refresh rate slows to a crawl and produces horizontal lag bars displaying old data. No one else is using the internet and running a speed test returns at least 290 Mbps or so. WiFi or ethernet same results.

Why is this happening when my speed seems fine? Is it because everyone in the neighborhood turns on Netflix after dinner?

I hope there is a solution for this or I'll be switching providers. I did not experience this with Spectrum.

We are here to help get your internet back up to par, beloyd.

Here is more information on how to optimize your Wi-Fi.

There are a lot of factors that affect the internet:

  • The more devices that are on the Wi-Fi, the slower it is going to be
  • The older the device, the slower it is going to be
  • Gateway environment, interference and construction materials can affect the speed as well

At the bottom of this page, there is information on our Smart Home Manager Tool. This will let you run health diagnostics and manage your network.

Also, we suggest that you reach out to the manufacturer of the client that you are using.

Let us know if this helps.

Hey Marc,

As of 10pm right now, Teradici performance is crawling -- before 6pm today it was fine. I ran the Smart Home Manager Tool and it says my internet looks good. Speed tests return 330 Mbps dl and similar upload. My coworkers who live in various parts of the US are not experiencing a performance hit when 6pm rolls around -- and we are all accessing the same data center.

Running a ping to the data center results with packet loss.

--- 64.124.109.### ping statistics ---

52 packets transmitted, 40 packets received, 23.1% packet loss

round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 45.257/49.650/65.079/4.057 ms

A ping to google

--- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics ---

12 packets transmitted, 12 packets received, 0.0% packet loss

round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 7.308/11.450/16.717/3.523 ms

I'm not using third party equipment. Teradici is a software program. This was a waste of time.

Having the exact same problem.  Speed checks are all good at home and at the source.  No one can seem to help.  I'm told it might be a lack of dedicated bandwidth at the source, but all my coworkers have no problem.  I always hit a wall around 7pm.

AT&T support blamed my company's cloud provider. To figure out what was going on I activated a cable account with Spectrum and ran ping tests for about a week. I could switch between AT&T fiber and Spectrum cable, ping the source and instantly see that AT&T had up to 40% packet loss and Spectrum had 0% between 6-10pm. Even though AT&T was cheaper and faster (especially upload), if I can't work then it doesn't matter. Long story short I stayed with Spectrum and it's been fine. Hope this helps.
