Speed to gateway 100MB, speed to device 940MB
New install 010 ONT (GPON) with BGW320.
Initially the speed to gateway and internal gateway speed test showed 940MB up/down and speed to device was also 940MB up/down.
An hour later, after a reboot, the speed to gateway went down to 100 up/down but 940MB stayed for speed to device. I tested that with Speedtest.net and other tools. They tried to reprovision the gateway, but same thing. When tech support ran a test over the phone, they said interference on the line, but not sure how and why. The initial light Db reading after the install was -18Db.
Has anyone seen this strange issue with the RG speed being lower than the speed to device?

Check your Ethernet adapter properties. I think you'll find that upon reboot it has negotiated a 100baseT Ethernet connection instead of the desired 1000baseT. You can try disconnecting the cable counting to 10 and reconnecting. Try twice if it doesn't work the first time. Also try using a different yellow port on the Gateway, especially you're using port 1 of a BGW 320.
The deeper question is why you have an ONT if you have a BGW320? The BGW320 is designed to be used without a separate ONT, even GPON.

The issue is not on the computer side. It's the BGW320 interface that shows 100baseT. The speed to my computer is 940MB, so it negotiates 1000baseT.
I know it's designed to use without an external ONT, but it should work. Lots of people, from what I know, run it that way when they upgrade from BGW210

There are two sides to every interface. You're saying that the BGW320 says that the speed of the port is 100000000 but the Computer says it's 940Mb?

So if I run a speed diagnostic from inside the gateway to AT&T, it shows the line provisioned to 100MB.
But on my computer or phone, if I run a Speedtest.net or fast.com, or anything other speed tool, it comes back as 940/940. You can also see that in the screenshot above.

I see. I was reading the display in reverse. I'm wondering if the display is actually reversed. My understanding was that the device test was a full test through the Gateway, so there's no way to get 940 from the device through the Gateway to the server unless the link between the Gateway and the server is also at least 940.
In my case, running Smart Home Manager's device test shows significantly less than what a full Ookla speed test on my device shows. I can't run it on my phone; it tells me to connect to my Wi-Fi. It *IS* connected to my Wi-Fi, but it's not the Wi-Fi provided by the Gateway (which is disabled).
The Smart Home Manager software has so much promise and seems to get a few things right, but... sigh.

Something got screwed up cause right after the install, I was showing the same speed on both to device and gateway. So the question is whether the BGW320 plays nicely with the 010 ONT (GPON) versus the 020 ones. And no, I can't bring fiber into the house, it's a bit more complicated so I need to go via the external ONT.
Of course now the phone techs say that there is some interference on the line, even though after the installation everything looked good.
