Solved: Connecting Cisco RV320 small business router to At&t Arris BG210-700 router/modem

It took me while before I managed to get it to work, but here are the steps:

1 ) In the Arris router: Go to Firewall and set is to passthrough. Enter manually the mac-address of the WAN port of the router. (Somehow it doesn't take it automatically for this older router.

2) In the sisco router, set the ip address, gateway address and dns addresses manually. Copy them from the "Broadband" tab of the Arris router. Don't use 192.168.... address, use the actual external address shown in the broadband tab. Mine starts with 108....

Enjoy!

This is so incomplete and ambiguous as to be totally useless to someone looking to do the same thing!!!  But it pops up on a Google search drawing people in only to WASTE their time!!!

reallyhelpful@reallyhelpful, could you explain what you're missing? We're running the configuration above for over a year now and it works fine for us. It is certainly never my intend to mislead anyone.

Thanks, I was able to follow the directions and connect my RV325 to the gig fiber gateway.  The passthrough works perfectly!

I did try keeping the RV325 WAN address at "obtain automatically" but that did not work.  Had to key in the WAN IP values from the AT&T gateway as described above.
