Person who signed me up for Fiber told me I could waive the equipment fee- they haven't. What gives?

Just signed up for Fiber with AT&T and I was trying to change from Spectrum. The person signing me up told me I could call back and waive the equipment fee and when I did I got told that there is no equipment waiver. What gives?

What gives? A salesperson actually told you something that's not true. What a shocker, huh?

Your only hope (and it's pretty small) is to call back and tell the automated phone system you want to Cancel Service. That will get you to the Retention/Customer Loyalty dept. Tell them your story and that you want to cancel service because of this misrepresentation. I can't recall anyone saying they got the fee removed or credited but who knows, maybe you'll be the first.
