Only 40-90 mbs for 1000 mbs plan?
For some time now, I have only been able to get around an average 50 mbs on my laptop wirelessly. However, I have the 1000 mbs plan. Even if I plug an Ethernet cable into the laptop, it barely goes above 90 mbs. Is there any way to fix this problem or do I have to live with it?

What modem do you have? 589? 599? 5268? 210?
If you have a 589 that modem only has a 2.4GHz WiFi band.
Ask for any one of the others, as they all have 2.4 and 5GHz.
5GHz is required to get 100mbps+ over WiFi
Even with 5GHz there are device limitations. My company provided iPhone6 gets around 300mbps.
Only way to get 900mbps+ is hardwired.
The wireless getting around 50 tells me you're on the 2.4GHz WiFi network.
The hardwired speed tells me either you're using a 2 pair ethernet cable or your laptop only has a 10/100 LAN card, meaning it physically cant go over 100mbps hardwired.
