On my ARRIS BGW210-700, how do I block external IPs from accessing my home network?

Over the past two days, my ATT app has inundated me with messages saying 'Network Attack Blocked,' where it blocked a 'scanning attack.' I now have a list of IPs that the attacks are coming from and want to block them. On my BGW 210, how do I block specific external IPs from accessing my network?

If AT&T Internet Security is telling you that the attack is blocked, then they're obviously already blocked.  Just say thanks to AT&T Internet Security for letting you know.

Also, unless you've turned on Port Forwarding or Default Server/IP Passthrough, all unsolicited IPv4 traffic is already discarded by the Gateway.  If you haven't turned off the Firewall Advanced Setting "Reflexive ACL", then all unsolicited IPv6 traffic that's not explicitly allowed via a "Pass" filter rule is also dropped.  This would happen whether you have AT&T Internet Security enabled or not.

Hi @Fridtha,

Thanks for reaching us.

We understand your concern with regard to blocking of external IP's from accessing your home network.

To answer your question: The feature that you are requesting to block specific IP addresses is not possible in the BGW210.

However, you can manually block websites and you can also check out Mcafee Security Suite, which can help block traffic from individual devices. Install AT&T Internet Security Suite to do so.

If you have any other other concerns, please feel free to write back to us.

Thank you.
David, AT&T Community Specialist.

This is untrue.  There is a Packet Filter in the BGW210 on the Firewall tab.

The gateway has a simple firewall on it.   I use a Fortinet 60E firewall with two Fortinet wireless access points to handle security.   Get a real firewall.
